Will Eisner , creater of The Spirit comic and the 1st Graphic Novel said the the work he was most proud of involved making instruction manuals for the Goverment that were designed to teach life saving tips for the young solders conscripted into the Vietnam war. It was thought that the young men in their teens would respond better if the instruction was done in a "comic book" rather than a dry printed manual. Will told our group that he was touched to recieve letters from the troops thanking him for helping save their lives in combat by remembering thinks taught in these books that stuck with them.
